Lakisia T. Banks was born on March 19, 1978 in Newark, NJ. At the age of 6 weeks the responsibility of rearing her was given to her maternal grandmother, Muriel E. Jones "Jonesey" until her death in 1999.
Lakisia was spiritually raised at Mount Carmel Baptist Church located in Orange, NJ where the late Rev. Elder R. Faison was her Pastor. There she was a very active and dedicated member. She served on such ministries as the Usher and Missionary Ministries. Served as VP of the Hospitality Ministry and Director of the Mass, Miracle
and Voices of Praise Choirs and often assisted the Men on the Move Men's choir with their rehearsals.
Lakisia was baptized at the age of nine but it was not until the winter of 1995 at the age of seventeen that she developed a PERSONAL relationship with the Lord. Lakisia knew that there would be a time that she would move
to a higher level in the Lord, but since she was comfortable in the place that she was currently in at this time, she seemed to ignore the signs that the Lord has placed before her.
For the first nine months of 2002, God began to deal with her spirit and direction. During this time God saw fit
to trouble her with deprivation of sleep. God allowed her to see Him in all His glory in the stillness of the midnight hour. But relying on her own understanding, she still procrastinated with her answer to the Lord.
In January 2003, Lakisia joined the Community Church of Faith of the New Testament, Inc. in Roselle, NJ under
the leadership of Bishop Nathaniel Wesley. It was there that she accepted the call that was on her life and
began to eagerly work in the vineyard of the Lord. There she was not only a part of the Ministerial Staff, but
she was later appointed as the National Director of Public Relations. In November 2003, she was licensed
as a Minister and commissioned to preach the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In 2004, after a suicide attempt, Minister Lakisia returned to Mount Carmel Baptist Church to serve under Pastorate of the late Rev. Leslie E. Baltimore.
In 2006, once becoming engaged to Elder Major Mitchell, IV, Minister Lakisia became a member of Living
Water Family Bible COGIC located in Carteret, NJ where Elder William Oatman, III was her Pastor. In this part
of the vineyard she served as Praise & Worship Leader and Founder and Director of the LWFBC "New Direction" Mass Choir. Proverbs 18:16 says, "A man's gift maketh room for him and bringeth him before great men", so in 2007 Minister Lakisia was appointed by the late Superintendent William Page as the Central District Choir Director of the 1st Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the State of New Jersey. While upholding this position she was responsible
for the music ministry and leadership of persons from at least 5 churches in the district.
Minister Lakisia was licensed to the office of Evangelist on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Emmanuel Temple Full Gospel Pentecostal Ministries, Inc. located in the city of Newark, NJ where Elder Major Mitchell, IV was the Pastor/Founder. There she was a faithful disciple, Leading Lady, a helper to her husband, anointed psalmist
and also the Ministry Leader for the Women of the Word (W.O.W.) Women's Ministry from which "Girl Power" was first birthed into existence.
After a divorce in 2016, Lakisia needed to be still and allow god to speak and begin to give healing for her soul and clarity for her life. Heeding the voice of the Lord, she became a member of Unity Baptist Church
(affectionately known as “UBC”) in Orange, NJ. sitting under the tutelage of the late Reverend James W. Holcomb, Jr. after which she served as a Minister and choir member under the Pastoral Leadership of Rev. Dolores M. Johnson.
Lakisia is the mother of four children; Mychael, Zyon, Major, V and Johrdan Zachary, grandmother of one Raine Jaylie and the lover of ONE lord, Jesus the Christ!! She is saved, sanctified, filled, anointed and appointed for a time such as this to teach and preach the unadulterated Gospel of the Lord.
